During the fourth year of the project “Fighting against Hate Speech and Hate Crime”, Association for Democratic Initiatives Sarajevo will continue to work on organization and implementation of educational activities related to the fight against hate crimes and hate speech. The educational activities will be organized for returnees, women victims of hate crimes, journalists, representatives of political parties, as well as police officers.
Additionally, the ADI will prepare a short documentary that will provide answers to the following questions: What are hate speech and hate crime, who are the most frequent victims, how to report on hate crimes and hate speech, as well as information on preventive activities that can be taken in order to adequately respond to hate crimes. The aim of the project is to increase the level of knowledge and public awareness in monitoring and reporting on cases of hate crimes, to strengthen public pressure on local authorities, and ultimately enhance the level of information and public awareness of the importance of understanding the efficient prosecution of criminal offenses and convictions for hate crimes, as well as to increase the protection of victims and witnesses before and after the trial.
The implementation period of the project: March 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016
The project is being implemented since 2013 under the auspices of the international organization for the protection of human rights, the Civil Rights Defenders.
