Association for Democratic Initiatives (ADI) will, from February 2015 until February 2016, implement a project titled “Strengthening the Role of Trade Unions in BiH in Protecting the Workers from Discrimination” and Program I – Advocacy and support for effective implementation of the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination in BiH. The ADI will work on the realization of project activities aimed at preventing discrimination of workers in BiH and strengthening the role of trade unions in the fight against discrimination.
The project is financially supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Open Society Fund BiH (OSF) within a four-year project “Equality for all: Civil Society Coalition against Discrimination”. The aim of the project is to support active role of civil society in the fight against discrimination and implementation of anti-discrimination law. The program activities will be implemented by Mediacenter Sarajevo in cooperation with Analitika – Center for Social Research, Rights for All and Your Rights BiH.
The main aims of the project are:
- Strengthen existing capacities of trade unions (their offices) to engage in the fight against discrimination;
- Increase the capacity of trade unions in BiH, as the most massive part of civil society for providing remedy to victims of discrimination;
- Work on the establishment of common initiatives on the level of trade unions in BiH and other CSOs for advocacy of adequate application of the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination.
The implementation period of the project: February 16, 2015 – February 16, 2016
