On September 19 and 20, 2015, at the premises of the Public Institution „Retirement Home“, the first two-day workshop “Strengthening the role of trade unions in BiH for combating discrimination against workers” was held in Zenica.

The workshop was organized by the Association for Democratic Initiatives (ADI) Sarajevo with the technical support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with: Mediacentar Sarajevo, Center for Social Research Analitika, Rights for All and Vaša prava BiH. The workshop was attended by representatives of trade unions – trade unions’ legal services, the persons most often contacted by workers for advice within the union.

The objective of the two-day educational workshop was to raise awareness among trade unions about the forms and methods of discrimination encountered by workers and to highlight the link between the ADL and trade union rights, the exchange of information and past experiences among participants on how to protect workers from discrimination, and initiating joint activities to establish a more effective system of protection for workers by using existing anti-discrimination mechanisms. The next workshop will be held in Tuzla.
