International scientific conference on

ˮThe human rights situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina“

Sarajevo, 19-20 May 2022

The Conference is organized within the project ˮContribution of the Academic Community to the Protection of Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ in cooperation with the Faculty of Law in Lukavica, PIM University of Banja Luka and the Association for Democratic Initiatives Sarajevo, supported by the European Commission.

The aim of the Conference is to assess the state of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina from an expert point of view through a dialogue between representatives of civil society organizations and institutions, and with the support of the academic community.

We are pleased to invite all the scientists and researchers, representatives of the legislative, executive and judicial branches, human rights defenders, NGO activists, media workers, students and other interested parties to submit their papers that will open new research questions and provide answers in the following areas:

  • The right to freedom of opinion and expression;
  • The right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association;
  • The right to freedom of movement and
  • The role of the ombudsman in protecting the three aforementioned human rights.

Organizers of the Conference welcome submissions written in the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina and/or the English language  The working languages at the Conference are the official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina and English. Submitted papers will be subjected to double-blind peer review, and only those papers that pass the review will be accepted for presentation at the Conference and published in the thematic proceedings that will be published before the Conference start.

Moreover, the number of authors in one paper is limited to two. For all participants whose papers are accepted for presentation at the Conference, the organizer will bear the travel costs, as well as the cost of accommodation and food.

The Conference will be organized with experts in the field of human rights protection, representatives of relevant institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, neighboring countries and the European Union, as well as representatives of civil society organizations, academic community, media and student organizations.
